2019 Spanish Immersion Vacation

Make the Most of Your Next Family Vacation!

Dual Language Family

2019 Spanish Immersion Vacation

in Cancun Mexico

June 23 - June 28, 2019

A truly relaxing vacation for you and a fun, unique language immersion for them!

Spend 6 days and 5 nights at the luxurious, 5-star, AAA four diamond-rated Paradisus Cancun beachfront resort and immerse your child in Spanish while you sip cocktails at the beach!

You've already made a big commitment to enroll your child in a language learning program or teach them a second language yourself.  This summer, don't waste another vacation exhausted chasing after your kids.  Instead, give them an experience that takes their language skills to a whole new level - and actually enjoy your vacation!

Spanish Immersion Camp Itinerary

During this one week vacation, they will:

  • Spend their days speaking Spanish in a fun and exciting program

  • Experience a Spanish-Only curriculum in music, art, and culture

  • Participate in activities that include plenty of beach, water, and sun

  • Participate in a one of a kind cultural and volunteer excursion

  • Make friendships with local children they'll remember forever

  • Have a unique, educational, and fun time - and all in Spanish!

It truly is a vacation like no other!

*A parent or guardian must accompany the child for the duration of the vacation as listed below.  This program is designed for kids enrolled in a Spanish Immersion or Dual Language school program entering grades 1 thru 6. This is not a beginner's Spanish program.

Parents Can Enjoy Their Vacation, Too!

While your child has an experience to brag about all year, you can spend your vacation relaxing and enjoying yourself instead of stressing to make sure your kids are having a safe, fun time.

Relax, relax, relax - Enjoy days at the beach, pool, spa, golf course, bed, shopping or whatever you dream, at our all-inclusive, luxurious resort.

Quality family time - after a day of relaxing for you and a jam-packed day of fun for them, come back together for dinner as a family to share stories of the day - trust us, distance does make the heart grow fonder!

The Kids are Fine!  We're moms so we take nothing for granted when it comes to kids safety. We are taking a number of precautions to make sure every camper is safe and sound while we're together.  We will work with you to make sure they're covered on allergies, medicine, and sunscreen.  Plus, we have strict rules for swimmers and non-swimmers alike, and we're CPR certified.  And you'll always know exactly where we are, and exactly how to reach us.  So go ahead - relax!

Be a part of their experience - you may not get a chance to personally engage in their language learning day to day, but this experience will give you opportunities to experience it first hand. Join us during pre-trip activities, the welcome reception, the closing event, and all the take home activities to show your child their Spanish journey is important to you. It will be so rewarding for both you and your child!

At the end of your trip, you'll be able to go home feeling rejuvenated and your child buzzing with all the fun they had.

It's truly a WIN WIN!

HELLO!

I'm so happy you're considering joining us on this adventure! Let me tell you a bit about why we're here...

I believe strongly that helping our children learn languages is an important step towards raising a generation of culturally savvy and globally sensitive children that will one day change the world.

I created this program with my own family's needs in mind and am so excited to share it with yours. I no longer want to waste our vacations fighting over whether we go to the beach, hang out at the pool or make another run to the buffet 8 days in a row. Never mind that I come home more exhausted than we left from chasing our kids around a resort.

Instead, I want to give our kids an opportunity to deepen their language learning, have authentic cultural experiences and make memories that will influence the rest of their lives.  Oh, and how about a little time on my own to recharge?  Because everyone is happier when I'm relaxed! 🤣

So please join us and make this summer vacation your best yet.

Truly,

Meet The Team

Kathy Guzman Galloway

Program Director

Kathy has dreamt of bringing this program to life for several years.  She is the founder of DualLanguageFamily.com - a blog for families in immersion programs - and has 15+ years of experience as a successful Marketing Strategist. She has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kathy has brought her creativity & passion to make the Summer Immersion Vacation a reality.  She leads the vision, planning and experiential components of the trip.

She is mami to two wonderful daughters, Amalia 11 and Laila 9.  Both girls have spent their school years in a Dual Language program, learning in both English and Spanish.  Kathy has spent the last 7 years learning the tough lessons of raising bilingual kids in a very English-forward world and how to encourage their love of language despite it.  She and her husband Mike are raising them in a happy home just outside of Dallas.

Noelia Diaz Castillo

Educational Director

Noelia has been an educator all her life.  Even as a child she loved caring for younger ones and playing teacher.  As an adult, she has spent the last 10 years in education as a bilingual teacher and more recently as an Educational Diagnostician. Noelia has a masters degree in special education from Sam Houston University.

Noelia leads the educational curriculum for our Summer Immersion Vacation.  She brings an educator's eye to help balance the fun with fact-based educational philosophies and strategies to ensure our kid campers are learning as much as they can.

She is mami to Maximo, her 5-year-old son.  She and her husband Joel have raised a truly bilingual and bicultural son, and are well on their way to biliteracy as he embarks on the journey of reading as a kindergartener. Their family calls Houston, TX home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the host of this event?

This Spanish Immersion Vacation is hosted by Dual Language Family.  We have curated the entire trip for our guests.

How does the camp work?

The first night of our trip, all families will meet at our Welcome Reception.  Each camp morning, you will drop off your camper at our designated location.  Parents will be required to sign campers in each day. Campers will enjoy a full day of activities, while parents enjoy their vacation. At the end of the camp day, parents will pick up campers at our designated location and sign them out - only authorized family members will be allowed to pick up campers. Families will have late afternoons and evening to spend together. For our Field Trip (excursion) day, we will meet first thing in the morning and travel to our event, returning before dinner.  on the final camp day, families can join us for our end of camp presentation.

What is included in the base package price?

Package prices will vary based on the room category (learn about room categories here) and number of adults (ages 12+).  All packages include the same general components: A 6 day, 5 night stay at the Paradisus Cancun for one or two adults; up to 2 children ages 0 - 12; and one (1) enrollment in the Spanish Immersion Vacation camp for a qualifying camper ages 6 - 11 or entering 1st - 6th grade in the fall of 2019.  The camp enrollment also includes an excursion ticket for the camper plus one adult.

What's not included?

Airfare, ground transportation and travel insurance are not included in the package prices.

What if I want to enroll an additional child in the camp?

What if I want another adult or another child to attend the excursion?

Additional camp enrollments are available for $699.  Additional adult excursion tickets are available for $125.  Additional child excursion tickets are available for $100.  These selections can be made at the booking page and will be added to your "total package price" at a later time.

What are the room options?

There are Lagoon View and Ocean View rooms.  You can book for 1 adult, 2 adults and 3 adults per room.  Up to 2 children 12 and under stay free.  You can learn more about the hotel's room categories on the hotel website here: https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/mexico/cancun/paradisus-cancun/rooms.html

When are payments due?

Deposits of $299 are due at the time of registration. The balance is due in THREE EQUAL PAYMENTS: February 1st - payment 1, - March 15th - payment 2, May 1st - payment 3.  Since we are not liable for airfare and other travel costs incurred, we highly recommend that other non-refundable purchases are completed after the first installment is paid.

What if I have a child that is under 6 or over 11 that already speaks some/a lot of Spanish - can she attend the camp?

Unfortunately, the camp is designed for elementary school-aged kids from 6 to 11 or that are entering 1st thru 6th grade in the fall of 2019.  All other children, along with all other family members, are welcome to join in the all-family activities, such as the welcome reception and closing presentation. There are a number of other activities at the hotel available to them and we suggest you consider upgrading to the Family Concierge service.

Do I need to be with my child everyday during the camp?

Nope!  While they are having  a blast and learning in Spanish, you can be on the beach, at the pool, at the spa, at the golf course, or just asleep on a hammock!  Enjoy your vacation, while we enrich our Spanish.

As the parent, do I need to speak Spanish?

Absolutely not!  While, you will have some opportunities for picking up a little bit of Spanish, your only job is to encourage a love of language in your child.  Encouraging them to speak as much Spanish as possible while on this trip will ensure they get the most of our time together.

What if my child doesn't swim, has allergies, needs medications, or I have other concerns?

Prior to our trip, you will complete a full registration form for each camper.  In this form, we will capture all critical information regarding your camper including whether or not they swim, have allergies, require specific medications or have any other special needs.  We cannot accommodate any children with life-threatening allergies. Campers who cannot swim will be required to wear life vests during all water activities and will not be allowed in water where they are unable to stand, with no exceptions.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate the dispensing or storing of any medication, helping with any bathroom needs, or support of any special needs.  However, we will happily coordinate with the parent to allow the camper to participate to their fullest and have the parent join us when/where necessary to support any of these types of requests.  For any other concerns, please contact us at hola@duallanguagefamily.com.
